My name is Iida. It’s so nice to meet you.
I am a twenty-something girl from Tampere, Finland. I have a degree in journalism and I am currently working as a marketing coordinator – and I’m loving it! My biggest passions are writing, content creation and social media. I also love floral dresses, Pinterest, gardening and my running in the woods. When I’m not working I love to read books, go for a walk with my corgi Luna or just hang out with my boyfriend Jonathan.
This blog is all about living a balanced and adventurous life while growing your career. I’ve noticed that many career blogs are simply all about, well, work and career. At the same time lifestyle blogs are usually all about family, friends, style, food or traveling. I honestly believe that having a well work-life balance is what makes you happy and that’s why I blog about both; career growth and living a fun, exciting life. I promise to provide you some valuable career-related content as well as fun, informative and inspiring lifestyle pieces spiced up with glimpses of my own and personal life. I hope you’ll have a good time here on my blog.
I’ve always known that having a fulfilling career is my biggest passion. I’ve never been a girl who dreams about her wedding day or having babies and living happily ever after. Instead of all those things I’ve been dreaming about getting a promotion, being a boss and running my own business. I’ve always know that I’m going to be a career girl.
I started studying journalism because I’ve always loved writing. Though very quickly I understood that I’m never going to be that ambitious journalist who wants to get that scoop or win the Pulizer price. I wasn’t ambitious in that way, even though I have worked as a news reporter in several newspapers in Finland.
Fortunately, I was able to study marketing as a minor and I immediately realized that marketing and communications are something I really want to do and learn more about. In spring 2017 I got my first job as a marketing coordinator and I’ve loved it so far.
This may sound easy but I’ve really been struggling with choosing my career path and I’m still not sure what my “passion” or “dream job” is. But I’ve realized that instead of trying to find our dream job or the right career path, we should just stop overthinking it and start trying new things. Taking a job as a journalist or as a controller doesn’t mean you need to do that for the rest of your life. Nope, just do it for a while and then do something else. I believe many 20-something girls do have the same problem as I did and in this blog I want to encourage you to stop overthinking and start doing things.
Life isn’t all about work
Even though I have some big career goals I still believe life isn’t all about work. I want to live an adventurous and exciting life and having a healthy work-life balance is one of the most important things in my life. I want to see the world, spend a lot of time with my boyfriend and my friends, learn new skills, have hobbies and just take care of myself. Because even as a career girl I believe the most important things in life are not work-related.
Sometimes it seems that working 50+ hours a week is necessary to build your career and to be successful. I don’t buy this. I strongly believe that to be successful you need to be happy. And how could you be happy if your whole life is about work? You need to take care of yourself and to de-stress in order to build your career. This is one of the most important things I am sharing on my blog as well.
Build your career, but never be too busy to live an adventurous life.
